The engine will receive a new GT37 turbocharger along with a larger 88 millimeter compressor wheel in which will take place of the previous GT32. The compressor will be a way for a larger amount of air force to travel into the cylinders, which in turn will improve the trucks performance. Ford also redesigned the the oil and cooling lines. With that being said, the engine will have a brand new five layer head gasket, a new four layer exhaust manifold gasket, a stronger crankshaft, and last but not least, stronger piston assemblies.

The automatic transmission which is a six speed is assembled with a stronger torque converter. With all of the changes and new things on this truck, it is said to create performance that is quieter than most trucks. Ford says that the upgraded diesel engine creates much more power, more robust and then of course more efficient than any of the trucks before, however they are still patiently waiting for the horsepower and torque figures.
